...

Prime Minister Cameron.

Ok. So... it's sort of what I was expecting.

A lot of Lib Dem supporters I've talked to really dislike Clegg's decision to enter a formal coalition with Cameron. I can sort of see their point; he did effectively crown David Cameron, and when comparing Sam&Cam with say... Barack and Michelle I know exactly which couple I'd back.

Still, Sammie might have to worry, because it's... what did Wossie call them... Posh and Cleggs who are the new power couple on the scene.

And that's... tolerable I suppose. I have more than a mild dislike for Cameron, but I think that it's quite possible that a coalition with the Lib Dems will soften the party. Either that or the coalition will collapse by the new year, but I'm sticking with the optimistic approach.

Have you seen them though? They laugh at each other's jokes. They smarm (yes it's a verb now. Shuddup). I was never one of those fervent Clegg supporters, (some of you can think of examples easily) but on the whole I like his party, and I rather liked him.

Now though? I'm beginning to find him more than a little distasteful. Yet, in his position, I would have made the same decision.

Liberal Democrat. The clue is in the name. Clegg had to back the party with the most votes, simple and straightforwards, so a rainbow alliance was totally out, especially with the nationalist parties. A formal coalition, some have said, is perhaps a touch too far, and smacks of opportunism. Perhaps. But it seems to me that the best the Lib Dems could have done in opposition is to block Tory policies- now they have direct influence on them.

Although, I must admit that I was much, much, much happier about this coalition when I thought that Clegg had secured a referendum on AV+, only to discover that all he had was AV.

Still. Make the most of it.

I wonder if this blog counts as Politics revision? Probably not, so I shall go back to it. There might be a bit of a dearth of updates- I'm going to try and up myself around 4 marks in the next... three days.

Yeah. Sure.
